Farmers of Pathankot said full confidence in ensuring Premier Modi
Pathankot, September 12 (IANS). Heavy rain and disastrous flooding in Punjab did great damage to farmers and local people. Flooding waters in Pathankot villages destroyed homes and crops, especially paddy and wheat. Farmers are also very upset because of the clay flowing in the flood because it will take a long time to dry. On September 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the flood -driven areas of Punjab. In this he also met the Sarpanch of many towns. PM Modi has all assured that the central government will work closely with the state governments in this difficult time and provide all possible help. PM Modi announced financial aid of Rs 1600 crore for Punjab. In addition, he announced an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 Lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The central government will provide all possible assistance for the renovation and reconstruction of infrastructure in the affected areas. The Pathankot farmers are satisfied with the assurance of the Premier Modi and they are confident that they will fulfill the assurance given by the Premier Modi. Dinda Sarpanch Harjindra Singh said Prime Minister Modi listened carefully to his problems and was assured that he would make full compensation for the loss. The central government announced immediate assistance of Rs 1600 crore for the affected flood. Farmers Joginder Singh and Surindra Singh expressed full confidence in the insurance and hoped that compensation would be received soon. The farmers also demanded help from the state government, as the situation of poor farmers is critical. Dinda’s Sarjindra Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi listened to him in Punjabi and felt like talking to the elderly of a home. The prime minister ensured the full compensation of the damage caused by the flooding, referring to the loss of one grain. The farmer Joginder Singh said that the flood had done great damage to his Paddy crop and that the clay had accumulated in the field, whereby the next wheat crop was not possible. The Sarpanch put his problem in front of Premier Modi and he expects to compensate the loss. Farmer Surindra Singh said crops suffered heavy losses due to flooding.
