Last Updated: September 16, 2025, 22:14 IST FARKRINTHABAD NEWS: In Farpresshabad there is still a look at tradition and culture that is hundreds of years old. The artisans here are still preparing indigenous wood soup (chhaj) with the twigs of ‘Kush’, which is used from grains to religious traditions such as marriage and poverty. Know how this traditional soup is made and why the tradition of playing it at 4am is still played. FARKRINTHABAD: In rural India, even today, when the grain of the farm barn comes home, it is not an expensive machine to clean it, but the traditional ‘soup’ of wood and Kush branches are used. This soup makes its presence not only for filtering grains, but also in marriage and marriage programs. This soup made of Kush’s twigs, which is easily found in each village house, still remains a source of employment for many artisans from Farkrukhabad. The generations of these artisans have been cherished by construction art for decades. How is the traditional soup ready? After the rainy season, this soup is prepared from the plants ‘pelle’ grown in Balui land. Artists first choose the thin and skin branches of these plants and soak them in water and soften. Then they get a beautiful, strong soup by carving them with hands, cutting and shaping them. In a conversation with local 18, Artisan Ramratan says that although the modern soup of steel and plastic has come into the market, the importance of traditional soup is still intact. People not only buy it to clean the grains, but also to follow cultural and religious traditions. Poverty is powered by Kush’s soup. According to Hindu traditions, Kush -soup is run away from the corner of the house in the morning and the poverty is driven away. This age -old tradition is still played in many homes. It is also called in Scripture, ‘Shiksha Ratra Daridra Nihishranam’, which means – to expel poverty by playing soup in the last watch of the night.
