He raped me several times, and tortured me physically and mentally. Apart from this, the doctor accused another policeman Prashant Bankar of mentally harassing him. The female doctor committed suicide. The woman doctor wrote that the same allegation was made by deputy SP posted in the sub-divisional office of Phaltan. Also mentioned in a letter written on June 19. In this letter, apart from the above two policemen, the female doctor also accused an Assistant Police Inspector Ladputre and wrote that she was living under immense stress. This serious issue should be investigated as soon as possible and action should be taken against the culprits. After no action was taken on his letter for almost four months, he was forced to commit suicide. This incident, which took place during the BJP’s rule in a corner of Mamata government over almost similar incidents involving women doctors in West Bengal, provided a weapon to the opposition. Reacting sharply to this incident, senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said how will the work be done when the protectors become the eaters. The job of the police is to protect, but when they are the ones exploiting a female doctor, how can justice be expected. He alleged that policemen had raped and questioned that when the female doctor filed a written complaint four months ago, why was no action taken against her? Wadettiwar also attacked the government and said that the government always works to protect the police. As a result, atrocities by the police are on the rise. NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule also raised the issue that the lady doctor had already informed the senior officials and questioned why no action was taken on her letter at that time. He said that those who inspire doctors to commit suicide should be severely punished. Describing this incident as unfortunate, BJP has assured strict action against the culprits. Assuring the women of their safety, BJP Legislative Council Member and State BJP Women President Chitra Wagh said that the police has formed a team to arrest the accused in this case. According to Satara district SP Tushar Doshi, the main accused in the incident, sub-inspector Gopal Badane, has been suspended with immediate effect. The police started investigating the whole matter.
