How to get dyes
A selection of dyes will be available automatically from Dye Merchants found through the world, but aside from the Gray Dawn Dye and the Default Colors, they must be unlocked first. Dyes are unlocked in one of three ways:
- Unlocked Through Gameplay – These include completing an activity, including Hunting grounds, Salvage contracts, Melee pitsFinding all the Signal Lensesor helping someone being attacked by machines.
- Available automatically – Lord, you’ll have to exchange Thigh plants To unlock them first. To find Dye Plants, Search Rocky Ledges and Cliff Faces. All Ledges and Cliff faces will house all thye plants, so don’t worry about searching specific regions for specific flowers.
- Purchase with Champion’s Tokens in New Game Plus -New Game Plus has a new orange-and-Black Dye for all the outfit tribes (except Oseram). Read our New Game + Page To learn about how to get champion’s tokens.
Once you’ve unlocked a dye, it’ll only requires 25 metal shards to be applied to any outfit for its tribe, so you won’t gather too many thighs plants to apply your favorite color scheme to all your gear.
How to find a dyer and apply dyes to outfits
Now that you have unlocked some dyes, you’re probably wondering how to apply them to your outfits. Throughout the forbidden West, you will encounter merchants inside of Settlementknown as dyers.
Dye Merchants can be found in the four major settlements in the forbidden West: Plainsong, Scalding spear, The Bulwark and Thornmarsh.
Upon speaking with the dyer, you will enter an interface showcasing your entire collection of outfits, as well as their compatible dyes. Dyes are exclusive to specific tribes (nora, carja, seram, utaru and ternetrh), five for each one, except erseram who only get four. While dyes are exclusive to that tribe, there are some that look very similar to those in other tribes, like the pink or orange dyes.
Once you’ve purchased an outfit thye, it will become available for all of that tribe’s outfits, meaning you don’t have to buy the same dye multiple times. Dyes will cost 25 metal shards to equip, except the “no dye” option, which costs 1 shard. You always pay shards to equip a dye, even if you’ve bought it before.
