By the time the fire was put out, clothes worth about two lakhs had been burnt. According to the shopkeeper, he had just come home after closing the shop at 9.30 when he received information about smoke coming from the shop. When the family members arrived, the shop was on fire. The fire was controlled with the help of nearby shopkeepers, but by then ready-made clothes worth over Rs 2 lakh had been burnt. The electricity meter of the shop also burned down. The businessman expressed his concern that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, as there was no lamp or other flammable object in the shop. A washing machine caught fire due to short circuit behind a house in Himanshu Gas Gali of Shahpur police station area. However, the local people put out the fire before the fire department arrived. In the same sequence, a house caught fire in front of Rajvanshi Hospital. The fire was completely extinguished due to the quick action of the fire unit.
