Fire in Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express at Sirhind station

Ambala, October 18 (IANS). An incident of fire in a compartment of train number 12204 (Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express) was reported at Sirhind Junction (SIR) in Punjab on Saturday morning. This incident happened at 07:30 in the morning. Ambala DRM shared this information on its official social media handle (X). The situation was brought under control with swift action by railway staff and local authorities. It is a matter of relief that no casualties were reported in this incident. According to the information received, the railway administration immediately started acting as soon as information about the incident was received. The passengers who were present in the concerned compartment were safely moved to other compartments. The team of Railway and Fire Service brought the fire under control quickly. Preliminary investigation did not reveal the cause of the fire, but railway officials have started a thorough investigation into the matter. According to Ambala DRM, the train was soon sent to its destination Saharsa after the fire was put out. Railways have taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety of passengers. After repairs and safety checks, the train was made ready for the onward journey. Railways appealed to passengers to remain patient and expressed regret for any inconvenience. Although this incident was minor, the quick response of the Railways saved it from becoming serious. The vigilance of the local administration and railway staff ensured the safety of passengers.
