According to the LinkedIn data, Great Tech firm Meta’s director of product management and generative AI, Chaya Nayak, joined the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Major Openai. “I join Openai to work with Irina Kofman on special initiatives – to explore new opportunities at the border of AI,” says Nayak, emphasizing how it is the ‘perfect next chapter’ for her life. In the social media post, Nayak remembers her first few weeks that worked for Facebook and how she joined the business to start ‘Data for Good’, an initiative to show how data and artificial intelligence/machine learning can benefit the world. “What started as a daring experiment based on my career,” Nayak said in her post. Chaya Nayak mentions that she did not expect the first few weeks in the technical giant to be almost a decade of work role. “What I didn’t know then was that the first weeks would change almost a decade of the most important experiences in my life,” says Nayak. What did Nayak learn from Meta? Chaya Nayak emphasized how she gained confidence from her role on Facebook (Meta) and with the confidence, boldness and resilience to chase “zealous ideas” for the business. She said she was successful enough to build a network of colleagues and friends who played a big role in her career growth. ‘On the way I grew as a leader. I learned confidence, boldness to chase zealous ideas and resilience when things did not go as planned. Most importantly, I built a network of colleagues and friends who formed me and inspired me every step of the road, ‘says Nayak in her post. Nayak’s contribution to Facebook Now, the former director of product management and generative AI of Meta, Chaya Nayak, spent eight years and eleven months in the company before joining Sam Altman-led Openai. Nayak focuses on how Meta over the years has given her the opportunity to build products and support communities in a crisis with disaster cards. The large technical firm also gave her the opportunity to work on the Facebook Open Research and Transparency Team (aka fort), which made her work in data cleaning, differential privacy and clean rooms of data and helped the company build the tools to share data. Nayak helped the company navigate through moments such as the US election in 2020 and “publish various articles with top researchers in magazines such as Science on Meta’s impact on elections and democracy.” For the past 2.5 years at Meta, Nayak has worked on generative AI and was after building three generations of Lama and Meta AI. “The past 2.5 years work on Genai – to build three generations of Llama and Meta AI, with incredible speed to solve hard problems and imagine what the next wave of AI can mean to society,” Nayak said in her post. Nayak holds a Bachelor’s degree in World Studies at the University of Wisconsin. Later, she also completed her master’s degree in public policy and data science at the University of California, Berkeley, according to her LinkedIn profile.
