8 -year -old girl convicted of rape and murder in Chandigarh that was sentenced to death

Special Court of Digarh, a fast track, sentenced Hiralal alias Guddu to death on June 3 in a heartbreaking case. The case is related to the abduction, rape and murder of an 8 -year -old innocent girl in Halomajra in January 2024. This decision is seen as a victory of justice in the city. On January 19, 2024, a girlfriend of Halmajra suddenly disappeared. The family started looking for him, but no idea was found. When police got information, the investigation began. Blood -stained clothing was recovered from the neighborhood, after which the police became suspicious. On the third day, the body of the girl was found near a garbage dump in the forests of Ram Darbar. The body was half -hearted and the rape was confirmed in the mail mortem along with a knife wound to the neck. Police arrested the accused Hiralal seven days later of the Bihar Ara district on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence. Hiralal was originally from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and lived in the vicinity of the victim. The investigation proved the DNA report and other evidence involved in his rape and murder. The court regarded the case as ‘rare’ and found Hiralal guilty under sections 302, 363, 366, 376 of the Indian Criminal Act and section 6 of the Poxo Act. The judge said that “this crime is going to shake the soul of society.” The case will now go to the Punjab and Haryana High Court to confirm the sentence.
