The Florida Panthers purchased Daniil Tarasov of the Columbus Blue Jackets as a strategic step to strengthen their depth of the goal. The trade was announced by Hockey Operations & General Manager Bill Zito, according to which Florida will separate in the 2025 NHL concept with their fifth round (160th overall). Tarasov’s NHL and AHL Operations Daniil Tarasov, 26-year-old goaltender of Novokuznetsk, Russia, showed impressive performances in his young career. In the 2024-25 season, Tarasov played 20 games for the Blue Jackets, with a record of 7-10-2 with a .881 saving percentage and a 3.54 goals against the average (GAA). He got into the spotlight on January 18 when he took up his first NHL exclusion and stopped 26 strokes in a match against the New York Rangers. Apart from the NHL, Tarasov also competed in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’s subsidiary. In his two performances during the 2024-25 season, Tarasov achieved a record of 1-1-0, a .908 savings percentage and a 2.96 GAA. Daniil Tarasov was originally a third round (86th overall) by Columbus in the 2017 NHL Draft. Tarasov played in particular 65 NHL matches with Columbus (2021-22 to 2024-25), with a record of 19-34-6, a .898 storage percentage and 3.44 gaa, along with 34 AHL games with a record of 17-12-3. International and KHL experience Before arriving in North America, Tarasov was part of Russia’s Continental Hockey League (KHL) with Salavat Yulav UFA. Over 18 matches in the Seasons 2018-19 and 2020-21, he recorded a commendable record of 11-4-3, a .924 saving percentage and a 2,13 GAA. On the international stage, Tarasov earned a bronze medal at the IIHF U20 World Junior Championship of 2019 (2-0-0) and competed in the 2016 IIHF U18 World Junior Championship, where he achieved a 2-1-0 record with a savings percentage of .921.
