Former North Sumatra PUPR chief Typhoon Ginting will soon stand trial in the road project case
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) has completed the file on the corruption case on a road project in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) that entangled the former head of PUPR Department of North Sumatra Province, Topan Ginting (TOP). Topan will soon be tried together with two other suspects, namely the Head of UPTD Gunung Tua PUPR Service of North Sumatra Province Rasuli Efendi Siregar (RES) and PPK Satker PJN Region I North Sumatra Heliyanto (HEL). “Yes, today there is a second phase, from investigators to prosecutors for suspects and evidence. There is brother TOP, then brother HEL, another brother RES. There are three people who have been named as suspects who deviated from the KPK’s arrest activities,” Budi Prasetyo, KPK spokesperson, told journalists on Friday (24/10/2025). Budi said that the handling of this matter went smoothly so that the delegation process could be carried out immediately. He said the Corruption Eradication Committee hopes that the trial process will produce a decision that is fair and based on the facts. So it is for the parties receiving it,” Budi said. “We hope that the processes at the trial can run smoothly later. Later, the Corruption Eradication Commission will also look at the facts at the trial for analysis and study,” he continued. He explained that until now the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was still focused on parties named as suspects. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is focusing on completing its investigation files, including the facts at trial that also enrich the public prosecutor and investigators. “So, we are following the trial, the parties have now heard and later after the receiving party has reached stage II, the prosecutor will of course also immediately try these parties,” he concluded. It is known that in this case five suspects have been named, namely: – Topan Ginting (TOP), Head of PUPR Department of North Sumatra Province – Rasuli Efendi Siregar (RES), Head of UPTD Gunung Tua PUPR Service of North Sumatra Province – Heliyanto (HEL), PPK Satker PJN Region I Akhi North Sumatra – (MKIR) Managing Director of PT DNG – M Rayhan Dulasmi Pilang (RAY), Director of PT RN. In this case, Topan is suspected of arranging for the private company that won the auction to obtain economic benefits. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that Topan received a promise of a fee of IDR 8 billion from the private sector won for the road project worth IDR 231.8 billion. The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) said Akhirun and Rayhan received Rp. 2 billion they thought would be distributed to officials who helped them get the project.
