The judge said even though the medical report mentions serious illnesses, considering the influential status of the accused, there is a possibility of influencing the witnesses by granting bail. Therefore, there is no solid basis for granting interim regular bail to the accused. Along with this, instructions were given to the jail administration to provide all necessary medical facilities to the accused as per jail rules. On August 27, he was rushed to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala in an emergency condition, where he was admitted due to severe chest pain, difficulty breathing and uncontrolled sugar. The examination revealed problems with heart disease, liver and other organs. Cardiac function was found to be impaired in EKG and echocardiography reports. The Vigilance Bureau, while filing its reply in the court, said that the accused is an influential person and there are many witnesses working under him. If he is granted bail, he can influence witnesses, which can affect the investigation. The Court observed that the bail pleas of the accused filed earlier have already been rejected by this Court, the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court. The accused surrendered on August 21 and has been in judicial custody since then.
