Four people drowned due to the breakdown of bridge in Pune, and rescue operations are still looking for missing people (Lead-1)

At least four people were killed after falling into a swollen river as a result of an old bridge that collapsed in the Pune district of Maharashtra on Sunday at the Indrayani River. Many people are still missing. So far, four bodies have been recovered and many people have been injured. A special team is searching the missing people. So far, 39 people have been saved. A large number of people fell into the water and swept into the swollen river due to the sudden collapse of the bridge over the Indrayani River in Kundmala in Maval Taluka, Pune. The photos obtained from the scene are seen that some parts of the bridge are broken and fall into the river. Several agencies are detecting missing people. The crane was used to remove parts of the collapsed structure during the rescue operation. A rescue worker told the Ians news agency that the bridge collapsed when people crossed it. The rescue operation is still underway. Vikas Nikam, a relative of Amol Ghule, who was injured in the accident, said: “He went to the hospital, but as he crossed the bridge, the bridge collapsed. The bridge was so weak that he broke. He took his wife the MRI report, but he was an accident.” The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said that 39 people have been saved so far, while four bodies have been recovered. The rescue operation is still underway. Mawal has received heavy rainfall over the past two days, which increased the water level of Inrayani. That is why this accident happened. Police, fire and NDRF teams reached the place and met in the rescue operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah and Maharashtra minister, Devendra Fadnavis, posted on social media platform X and expressed sadness over the incident. The Maharashtra government announced five Lakh calls each as financial aid of the dead. Kundmala is a popular tourist destination, where a large number of tourists visit during the monsoon.
