MLA -suspension case: Union Minister Shobha Karandalaje wrote a letter to the Karnataka Speaker

Bengaluru, May 22 (IANS). Union Minister Shobha Karandalaje wrote a letter to the Speaker of the Karnataka Lawyer Assembly. This letter was written regarding the suspension of 18 MLAs. Shobha Karandalaje wrote, “I am writing a letter to express my deep concern and disappointment about the decision to suspend 18 Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs of the Karnataka meeting for a period of six months after the March 21, 2025 incident. I would probably say that the suspension of these elected representatives for such a long period is not only contradictory, but also raises serious questions about democratic functioning. The alleged honey-jumping scandal and 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government contracts and part of a wonderful concern about the issue of 4 percent provision for Muslims in government contracts. Was an integral part of a living democracy. ‘Karandalaje has written,’ democracy protest marches are not disrupted, it is a form of participation. The leg of the meeting is the most appropriate platform to compile issues on public interest. As the speaker, a balanced approach to advising and maintenance of label can be useful to draw up such rigorous punishment. In addition, the suspension of these 18 MLAs has deprived millions of citizens. To declare the lawmakers of access to the committee’s meetings and other legislative responsibilities, effectively suppresses the voices of their constituencies, as opposed to the principles of representative democracy. “In the last part of the letter, he wrote,” I urge you to take the necessary steps to reconsider and cancel the decision of suspension. This step will not only retain the dignity of the meeting, but will also strengthen the confidence in our democratic institutions. I hope that you will take this matter just as seriously. Shobha Karandalaje is a Lok Sabha MP of Karnataka and is a Minister of State in the Ministry of Labor and Employment and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Center. -Ians bag/DSC shares this story tags
