NPPP's Intervention Requesting filed in the Madras High Court in support of TVK

Chennai, September 22 (IANS). The National People’s Power Party (NPPP) has filed an intervention request in the Madras High Court in support of Tamizhaga Vatri Kazhagam (TVK), actor -powered politician in Tamil Nadu. The petition claims that the state government is putting a strict ban on Vijay’s campaign, which is a conspiracy to suppress the voice of opposition parties. TVK Speaker Vijay visits several districts of the state to prepare for the 2026 election. In that petition, the party requested that the applications of the consent of the campaign meetings be considered without any prejudice and immediate consent. TVK says police set 23 conditions for the rally held in Tiruchirappalli on September 13, including pregnant women, the elderly and disabled forbidden to attend the program, the limit to speak more than 30 minutes during meetings and prohibit crowds. The party claims that these conditions are only implemented on TVK, while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kadhaghag (DMK) and the most important opposition do not have such restrictions. NPPP President ML Ravi demanded in his petition to make himself a party to the case. He said that the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu was pushing the voice of opposition parties and trying to strangle democracy. The petition also claimed that Tamil Nadu police are acting like a branch of the ruling DMK. Ravi said: “The government is abusing the police to crush small opposition parties. The most important opposition parties have not set such rigorous sanctions on the AIADMC, but they are strictly implemented on the new face like Vijay.” The last trial of the case was held on September 18, in which Justice N. Saathe Kumar proposed the state government to form uniform guidelines for all political parties for public meetings, rallies and campaigns. -Ians shk/dsc share this story tags
