With the first Test against Western Indian Islands ending within three days, the Indian team will hold their first workout at Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 8 before going to Gambhir’s home. India is third on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table and a victory in the second test they are likely to place a place above. Meanwhile, the Indian team is currently going through a transitional phase. After Shubman Gill got the Test captaincy after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the longest format, the 25-year-old was also entrusted with the leadership role in ODIs. After the second Test against Western Indian Islands, the Indian team then traveled to three ODIs and five T20Is, which began later this month. In the beginning of 2026, India will offer New Zealand in three ODIs and five T20Is before the T20 World Championships, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
