Good news for VI users! The company launches ‘Vi Protect Ai’ in IMC 2025 will help stop fraudulent calls and messages

Vodafone IDEA (VI) launched an AI-powered initiative on Wednesday, called VI Protect, which aims to improve protection against spam and cyber threats. This announcement was made on the India Mobile Congress 2025 (IMC 2025). The initiative consists of two main systems-an AI-based voice spam tracking system and an AI-powered cyber defense and the response system. While the spam tracking system identifies and flags fraudulent calls in real time, the network defense system helps VI’s network and business operations against cyber attacks. The VI Protect program is designed to protect consumer, network and business users from Spam, scams and cyber attacks on a single platform. Under this initiative, VI introduced two systems-a voice spam tracking system and an AI-powered network defense and incident reaction system. How does VI’s voice spam uplifting system work? VI’s voice spam tracking system claims to identify spam and fraudulent calls in real time using AI models, web crawlers and customer feedback. If a suspicious number calls a VI user, a ‘suspected spam’ alert appears on the call screen, allowing users to decide whether to answer the call. Unlike third-party caller ID programs, this feature is integrated directly into VI’s network. The VI Protect Program contains a voice spam tracking system that identifies and flag fraudulent text messages. It also has an international call performance feature, which helps users easily identify genuine international calls. In addition, the AI-powered threat analysis system is integrated with VI’s DNA, SMS and Voice Gateway, which analyzes threat patterns. Vi Cyber Security and Incident Response System under the VI Protect Initiative, VI launched an AI-powered cyber security and incident response system to protect its core network and business operations. The system uses agentive and generative AI models that are claimed to be able to detect, analyze and neutralize cyber threats within an hour. Vi says the system is designed to reduce false positive. This multi-layer security system works on a five-step process: anomaly detection, contextualization and classification, interface engine agent, suggestive intelligence and human verification. VI also confirmed that this advanced security will soon be made available to its business clients. VI claims that its security systems have so far identified more than 60 spam and scam calls and messages. The company will also soon launch a real-time URL protection function, which provides protection against phishing attacks and malware infections by scanning and blocking suspicious links.
