State Bureau, Shimla. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu yesterday visited the Balika Ashram near Shimla and celebrated Diwali with the children living there. He wished the girls of the ashram a happy Diwali and wished them a happy and bright future. The Chief Minister also distributed sweets and gifts to the girls. Speaking on the occasion, Sukhu said the state government has started the Mukhyamantri Sukhashraya Yojana for the education and care of orphans. According to this, the government as guardian covers all the expenses, including education of these children until they are 27 years old. These children are part of our society and have full rights over the resources of the state, therefore the government has not done them any favor by bringing this scheme. Even after completing class 12th, the government will bear the entire cost of higher and professional education of these children. The government will also bear the hostel fees and clothing expenses. Along with their fees, the government will also bear the hostel and clothing costs and they are also provided Rs 4,000 as allowance every month. The state government is doing everything possible to ensure that these children who have lost their parents become independent and live their lives with self-respect. The girls of the ashram are also given the opportunity to tour the country. 16 girls were sent on a trip some time ago and now other girls will be sent so that their knowledge and confidence can increase along with the trip. Provision of Rs 2 lakh for marriage: The state government has provided financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the marriage of such children. Apart from this, a provision has been made to provide assistance of Rs 3 lakh to those who have their own land but do not have a house.
