Governor Khofifah handed over help to residents affected by the earthquake in Situbondo

Jakarta -The Governor of the East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, reviewed the earthquake that affected the earthquake on Saturday (27/9) in Sumberwaru Village, Sidomulyo Hamlet, Banyuputih district, Situbondo Regency. During his visit, he also handed over help to affected residents. A 5.7 scope earthquake was 18 kilometers southeast of the sea with a depth of 12 kilometers. The shock that took place on Thursday (9/25) was the settlement of Sumberwaru Village, Sumbaar Village, Sumberejo Village and the Wonorejo village in the Banyuputih district. Upon arrival on the place, Khofifah immediately handed help to eight residents of Sumberwaru. The help includes 100 packets of men, 100 packets of women’s clothing, 100 packets of elderly, 200 sailing, 20 boxes of fast food, 20 boxes of side dishes, 10 extra boxes of feeding, 100 packets of family children, 75 cleaning packages, 120 blankets, 100 packets of kids, 100 packages to continue with the content of help. After the earthquake and some materials such as cement, brick and galvalum, ‘he said in a written statement on Saturday (9/27/2025). East Java BPBD noted, the earthquake has damaged homes, public facilities and business places in the four hamlets of the Banyuputi -district. In Sumberwaru Hamlet, there were 22 small damaged houses, 7 moderately damaged houses, 30 houses were severely damaged, one school and four places in the form of dams and resorts. In summary Hamlet, there were 7 small damaged houses, 8 houses were severely damaged, and two mosque, namely the Baitul Makanqin mosque and all firdaus musholla. While in Sumberejo Village, 2 houses were slightly damaged and 2 houses were severely damaged. In Wonorejo Village, 14 houses were slightly damaged, 13 houses were moderately damaged, 5 houses were severely damaged and 1 all muttaqin mosque was damaged. “In total of four -damaged towns, 45 units are damaged houses, 20 units of moderate damaged houses, 45 units houses damaged, 1 unit school, 4 units of business and 3 worship places,” he continued. Furthermore, Khofifah also visited the houses of the people who were severely damaged, including belonging to Sunarso, MISNARI and YANTO. According to him, most damage on the roof and some of the walls of the house that were cracked occurred. He explained that the government would start social recovery before going to the reconstruction phase. “The first phase of the government is still doing social recovery, because if I ask that they are all healthy but still traumatized. So the trauma healing and counseling teams must be reduced to adult and elderly children,” he explained. “The next phase, reconstruction to see the state of damaged buildings such as homes, places of worship, schools by providing assistance such as cement, galvalum, tiles,” he added. Khofifah also emphasized the importance of disaster readiness when it is taken into account that East Java was included in the ring of the fire area. He encouraged the formation of a resilient village. “There are villagers trained to be prepared by the Tangguh disaster town, and if prepared by the Tangguh village, the provincial government of East Java is ready to do training, including preparing equipment in each of the tangguh villages,” he said. He hopes that residents will remain patient and tough, while the government will move quickly to recover damage. “I said they were not alone because we were all present to be part of the solution during emergency response,” he explained. Meanwhile, the Regent of Situbondo argued that his party immediately issued an emergency decision and ordered the Situbondo BPBD to recover to build the homes of the residents concerned. “We need to help each other to help help and mutual cooperation,” he said. In addition to reviewing residents’ homes, Khofifah, along with the Regent and Deputy Regent of Situbondo, also visited the public kitchen at the Banyuputi -District Office. “For public kitchen du Tagana Situbondo Regency 30 people with one cooked 300 servings morning, afternoon, night,” he explained. One of the victims was affected, Sunarso, 55, expressed his gratitude for the help given. Upon his arrival, however, he found that several parts of the building had done serious damage. “The shock is very stiff for about 5 minutes. Some parts of the walls are cracked, including the roof, which is also damaged as support for a home (horses),” he explained.
