Gujarat: Chopra puja is celebrated on Diwali in Rajkot, tradition continues even in the digital age

Rajkot, October 20 (IANS). The festival of Diwali is celebrated with full enthusiasm in Rajkot, Gujarat on Monday. On this occasion, the business class worshiped their bookkeepers, who kept the accounts of their business. On Diwali, along with the worship of old chopras, new ledgers were also purchased. Traders say that the importance of the tradition of Chopra Puja remains intact even in the digital age. An old generation owner at Lakhaji Road said that his family has been in this business for four generations and they have never faced any shortage. He said, “Even in the digital age, people perform Chopra Puja with enthusiasm. Technology has changed, but the importance of tradition remains the same.” Meanwhile, while talking to news agency IANS, businessman Kyuri Shah said that materials related to Diwali puja and accounting books are available at his place. There is also a tendency among people to buy it. I see this as a good sign. He said, “Even in the digital age, people’s interest in books and traditions has not decreased. A large number of youngsters come to our place to buy books and puja materials. We want our traditions and rituals to remain alive forever.” Kyuri emphasized that this festival of Diwali is not only a symbol of business prosperity but also carries the cultural heritage. He further said, ‘The splendor of Diwali is visible in the markets of Rajkot. Traders and local people celebrate this festival with enthusiasm. Along with the worship, traditions like sweets, lamps and rangoli were also seen in full swing in the city.
