Gujarat: Women of Dang are empowered by animal husbandry
Dang, October 7 (IANS). If you keep in mind half of the population of the country, many public welfare schemes are run by the central government, the purpose of which is to make the rural women of the country independent and motivate them for empowering women. The effect of the government’s successful initiative is also seen in the remote rural areas of the Dang district Gujarat, where women support themselves and their families by doing animal husbandry. Lakshmiben Kamdi, a resident of the Khambhala town in Subir Taluka of the Dang district, while talking to Ians, told how she became a millionaire from animal husbandry. He said that the tribal women of the Khambhala town at the edge of the Dang district had trouble running their household due to poor economic condition. He thought to improve the economic situation. In this order, after talking to the women of the village, he formed ‘Parvati Forest Savings Group’. Initially, all the women of the group began to raise Rs 100 together. Lakshmiben said the group received an orbit of Rs 30,000 through the Mission Mangalam branch, Subir Taluka. On the recommendation of the same branch, the group first received a loan of Rs 1 Lakh, then Rs 2 and finally Rs 3 Lakh. With these rupees, a cow was purchased for the first time and the livestock industry was started. Due to good income, the idea of buying more cows came to me. There are four to five cows these days and the monthly income is Rs 15 to 20,000. At the same time, the annual income is Rs 1,50,000. Seema M. Kamdi, daughter of Lakshmiben Kamdi, said: “Earlier there was no source of income in our town, and it was very difficult to run a household. Later we got guidance from Mission Mangalam and a business in our town. After we started the business, we got a good income. –
