Happy for Shubman Gill, disappointed for Rohit: Harbhajan Singh

New -delhi, October 4 (IANS). Former Indian cricket team -spinner Harbhajan Singh said it is very shocking for Rohit Sharma not to visit Australia as captain. Harbhajan spoke at Geographstar and said, “Congratulations to Shubman Gill. He is leading the team well in Test cricket. Now he is also the captain of Odis. Harbhajan said: “Rohit was one of the pillars of Indian cricket in limited overs. I think he should have at least got a chance on this tour. If the selectors think about 2027 ODI World Championships, he’s still far away.” The former spinner said: “Shubman still has a lot of time to form the role of ODI captain. The opportunity he could have a little delay. He could have waited six to eight months or even a year. I’m happy for Shubman, but I’m a little disappointed at the same time because I didn’t have the captain of Rohit Sharma.” On Rohit’s ODI career, Harbhajan Singh said: “If you look at Rohit’s ODI records, his average is about 50. It shows how constantly he was and how much he contributes as a opener. There is no doubt about his actions and his perspectives in terms of India. He was an incredible player, and that will not change.” He said: “Whether Rohit is the captain or not, he will always be in the role of leadership in the team. He will continue to advise Shubman or anyone else if necessary. If a batsman, Rohit will not change his vision. He will remain fearless as before. Iyer.
