UN announces the disasters in Gaza, Legislature: RI cannot be quiet
Jakarta – Member of the House of Representatives Commission I, Yudha Novanza Utama, highlighted the official announcement of the United Nations (UN) regarding the hunger disaster in Gaza, Palestine. He said the warning should be an alarm for Indonesia to take an initiative to stop all forms of oppression. “The UN statement was the first time the famine was said in the midst. This fact shows that the suffering of the Palestinian people was in a very emergency phase,” Yudha told reporters on Monday. Browse to continue the content, Yudha highlighted the statement of the head of UN assistance Tom Fletcher confirming that this hunger should not be needed. He mentions the events that took place in Gaza were not natural disasters, but the political falls on access to humanity. “Fletcher has clearly stated that food cannot reach Gaza due to systematic obstacles by Israel. That is, it is not a natural disaster, but because of political policy that covers access to humanity,” he said. This Golkar Legislature calls on the international community to unite to push Israel to open the humanitarian aid. He asked the Indonesian government to try more hard in the World Forum. “Hundreds of thousands of Gazane are now facing the condition of major disasters. This situation is not only about Palestine, but also a test for the world humanitarian solidarity. Don’t let hunger be used as a remedy,” Yudha said. “The Indonesian government must be more active in leading diplomatic initiatives, both in the United Nations, Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OIC), as well as other international forums. Indonesia should not stand still, should be in the forefront to fight for the opening of the help and termination of the Israeli blockade,” he continued. He strongly condemned the food aid blockade against Gaza to cause children to suffer and eventually dead. Yudha has asked the country around the world not to close his eyes for this event. “Children are the most helpless victims. They suffer from hunger, sick and even lose the future due to war and blockade. The world should not close their eyes if the Palestinian young generation is left slowly,” he said. Previously, the United Nations (UN) officially declared the hunger disaster in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. But Palestinians considered the UN statement. The UN announcement comes after months of warnings about the food crisis in Gaza. At the end of July, an integrated food security phase classification (IPC), an initiative supported by the United Nations (UN), issued a warning to the hunger crisis as a result of conflict in Gaza. IPC said more evidence shows that hunger, malnutrition and widespread diseases encourage increased deaths due to hunger. More than 20,000 children were treated for acute malnutrition between April and mid -July. The number is that 3,000 children experience worse malnutrition. “The latest data shows that the threshold of hunger has been reached for food consumption in most Gaza slips and for acute malnutrition in the city of Gaza,” states the warning, which asked for immediate action to be terminated to hostility and saved broad humanitarian reactions without barriers and lives.
