Haryana IPS Association expressed sadness over the downfall of Y Puran Kumar.
Chandigarh, October 10 (IANS). The IPS Officers Association (Haryana Cadre) expressed deeply saddened on Friday about the sudden and untimely downfall of senior police officer Y Puran Kumar, IPS. The association prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul and expressed sincere condolences to the grieving family. A delegation led by Hardep Singh Doon, IPS, additional director -general of the police (telecommunications, highways and traffic), personally visited the residence of the wife of the late officer, Amneet P Kumar, IAS, to express his condolences. On this occasion, senior police officers ensured all possible assistance to the family. The members of the association paid tribute to the departed soul by observing two minutes of silence. The members said that the association stands strong with the grieving family in this hour of sadness and praying to God to give peace to the departed soul and power to the family to bear this irreparable loss. Haryana inspector -General of the Police (IG) Y Puran Kumar, an IPS of 2001, allegedly shot himself at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh, on Tuesday. According to police, Puran Kumar allegedly shot himself with his service revolver and his body was found in the cellar. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardep Kaur told the media that information on suicide information about 13.30 o’clock from Huis No. 116, Chandigarh sector 11, received. According to reports, Kumar took the gun of an armed man on Monday. Last month, Kumar was moved to the Sunaria jail of Rohtak, the same prison where Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim serves his sentence in the case of Sadhus sexual exploitation. Earlier, Kumar asked questions about the promotion of some IPS officials of 1991, 1996, 1997 and 2005. Kumar, an engineering student, was born on May 19, 1973 and was scheduled to retire on May 31, 2033.
