Complaints Submitted Money Launting against Gujarat Journalist Mahesh Langa

Ahmedabad, April 21 (IANS). On April 17, the Maintenance Directorate (ED) filed a charge sheet with a special court against Mahesh Prabhudan Langa under the Money Wauning (PMLA) Prevention Act (PMLA), 2002 and the court also noted the complaint on the same day. This action was started on the basis of a fir submitted to the DCB police station in Ahmedabad City, allegations of breaking (betrayal) of fraud and confidence. In addition, another fir was also filed against Mahesh Langa with the Satellite police station, Ahmedabad, which was allegedly forced. During the investigation, the Ed learned that Mahesh Langa had used his alleged relations with the media earlier and raised money from people. He threatened the complainants that if he did not give money, he would publish the news that they were blaspheming. Many people have lost millions of rupees because of such extortion. The ED found in the investigation that the money earned from the crime was used to buy an office in Ahmedabad. The property was seized by the ED under a temporary attachment order issued on April 9. Mahesh Langa is currently in judicial custody and further investigation into the ED is going on in this case. Mahesh Langa was accused of abusing his position and was involved in extortion, violent settlement and illegal cases and earned illegal money from lakhs of rupees. His name also came in the case of a government document leaking, of which the fir was submitted in Gandhinagar. Last year, Ahmedabad Crime branch attacked the House of Mahesh Langa, which recovered documents related to Rs 20 lakh cash, precious jewelry and property. It is striking that his annual salary of the government was Rs 9 Lakh. According to his income tax return of 2022-23, Mahesh’s income was Rs 9.48 Lakh and his wife’s revenue was Rs 6.04 Lakh, in total the annual income of both was about Rs 15.5 Lakh. Nevertheless, the restoration of Rs 20 Lakh cash from his home raises many questions. It also came to light that Mahesh and his wife regularly stayed in luxury hotels. -Ians CBT/ Share this Story Tags
