The former member of the House of Representatives, Rehab Al -Abouda, was surprised today, Sunday, which is being circulated regarding the reduction of the ruling issued against Dergham Al -Tamimi, convicted of the killing of Dr. Sarah Al -Aboudi, from execution to life imprisonment.

“Until this moment, we do not have any official confirmation or notification from the judicial authorities, and we do not know the validity of this news. We are waiting for an official clarification from the competent authorities.”

She emphasized that the family is still in shock, especially after the contact of the father of the deceased Sarah, who expressed great suffering from these news.
Al -Abouda indicated that “if the news is correct, the family and the legal authorities concerned have legal ways to demand their right and to preserve the previously issued judgment against Al -Tamimi. In the event that it turns out that the news is incorrect, they will reserve their right to take legal measures against those who published the news.”

The media in Basra had circulated news that the death sentence issued against Dergham al -Tamimi was reduced to life imprisonment, after reconsidering his case.

Last June, the Iraqi judiciary issued a death sentence by hanging to death against Dergham Abd al -Salem Nima Al -Tamimi, the brother of the wife of the Governor of Basra, after he was convicted of the murder of university professor Sarah Al -Abouda.

A judicial source said, “The Iraqi judiciary issued a death sentence to death to death against the convict, Dergham Abdel -Salem Nima Al -Tamimi, after being convicted of the murder of the university professor.”

In November 2024, the murder of Basra Governorate, in southern Iraq, rocked the murder of Basra, as a university professor killed his colleague after luring her to a remote location.

Video records of the Border Forces cameras showed the university professor while standing in his personal car in a remote area between the Abu Al -Khaseeb district and the Al -Siba district, accompanying his deceased colleague, before he killed her.

The governor of Basra, Asaad Al -Eidani, had at the time revealed through a voice message that the person accused of the murder of a university professor in the Abu Al -Khasib area is his wife’s brother, stressing that the law is imposed on everyone, and there is no emotion in achieving justice.

Al -Eidani said, “The security forces were not affected by emotions, and we have followed the killing that occurred between the Abu Al -Khasib area and the Al -Siba area, so the accused of killing the university professor is free of my children, and others may be affected by the relationship of kinship, but as a result, he is accused in the eyes of the law, and he was arrested after the issuance of a judicial order.”
