Jagran Correspondent, Shimla. A tragic accident happened to a family in Shimla on the night of Diwali. A speeding car wreaked havoc near Victory Tunnel in Shimla. Five members of the family were injured in the accident. The speeding car suddenly lost control and hit the iron railing on the side of the road. The impact was so strong that the railing and the adjacent signboard broke and fell on the people. According to the police, the incident took place around 10.15 pm, when the complainant Kailash son of Lehru Lal, resident of Dindoli (District Chittorgarh, Rajasthan) was on the footpath with his family on his way to the Old Bus Stand near Victory Tunnel. There was a white colored taxi. Meanwhile, a white colored taxi (number HP01N 0561) came at high speed from the wrong direction and hit the guardrail on the side of the road. Due to the collision, the railing and iron plate broke and fell on the people sleeping on the footpath. Five people including three children were injured in this accident. Bhairo Singh, 4-year-old Sona daughter of Bhairo Singh, 8-year-old Vishal son of Jamnalal, 6-year-old Maya daughter of Jamnalal and four-month-old child Kishan son of Ramlal were injured. All the injured were referred to IGMC from Ripon. With the help of local people, all the injured were immediately taken to Ripon Hospital, from where they were referred to IGMC Shimla. On the complaint, the police registered a case in terms of section 281 and 125 (A) of BNS. The police also had the car driver medically examined to determine if he was in an intoxicated state. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
