Jakarta – Minister of Transmigration M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara ensures that the current transmigration program no longer moves residents from one area to another. This program is now aimed at improving the well -being of people and encouraging economic activities in the transmigration area. It was revealed by him during the Transmigration Community Training and Empowerment Center Tuesday (29/7). “Transmigration is now a regional development strategy. We want to create new economic centers that are competitive and offer direct benefits to the community,” IFTITAH said in a written statement on Wednesday (7/30/2025). According to him, the transmigration area is expected to be an economic driving force in different regions through this approach. “The success of transmigration transformation requires the support of all parties, including local governments, business operations and the community. If everyone moves together, transmigration will be a solution to fair development as well as poverty alleviation,” IFTITAH said. He ensured that this program would still be socialized to all regions to ensure the same understanding of the new direction of transmigration. “The government will also accompany the transmigrant community to be independent and prosperous,” he said. He added that the Ministry of Transmigration held a transmigration work meeting to discuss different strategic issues. The issues discussed from the perception and dedication of the central and regional governments in the implementation of transmigration transformation, the dedication of the implementation of ABT 2025, the implementation of the TA 2025 budget according to the target, the implementation of activities in 2026 aspiration, innovative according to the vision and the mission of the president, to strengthen cooperative and investment potential in the transmigration area. “This agenda is a momentum to evaluate different programs that have proposed a work plan and prepare with a more collaborative approach and based on local potential,” he said. A number of speakers of ministries/institutions, academics and regional heads are also scheduled to be present to give views and recommendations on the development of transmigration as part of the National Development Equity Strategy. “It is hoped that the results of the meeting will produce concrete technical policies and become a joint reference in the implementation of more modern and responding transmigration of the challenges of the time,” he concluded.
