Hundreds of students in Sleman suspected of MBG poisoning, most of them have dizziness and diarrhea

Jakarta – Hundreds of students from three schools in Kapanewon Mlati experienced symptoms of poisoning after eating the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu. Dozens of students underwent outpatient treatment at the Community Health Centre, while 1 person was referred to RSA UGM. The three schools are MAN 3 Sleman, SMPN 2 Mlati, and SD Jombor Lor. Acting Panewu Mlati Arifin said from the information he received, the number of students at MAN 3 Sleman was 214 people. “There were many people with symptoms. The data we brought was only taken to the puskesmas. MAN had 20 students, SDN Jombor had 13 students, and SMPN 2 Mlati had 55 students. There was 1 child who was referred to RSA UGM,” Arifin told journalists, Friday (24/50/24) reported by detikJogja. SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Arifin said the poisoning was suspected to be from the MBG menu on Thursday (23/10). The three schools received the MBG menu from the same SPPG kitchen, namely in Sinduadi. However, he could not confirm whether the cause of the poisoning was today’s or yesterday’s food menu. “(The elementary school) doesn’t know if it’s because of (the MBG menu) this morning or yesterday. Because the middle school is the same as the MAN (MBG menu) yesterday,” he said. The majority of symptomatic students experienced dizziness and diarrhea. Currently, students with symptoms are receiving treatment. “Everybody was brought here, then checked, most of them just got outpatient treatment, just medicine, only one got an IV drip, that’s it. Dizziness, diarrhea, most of the elementary school (students) had diarrhea, others had dizziness,” he said. Read more here. (yld/idh)
