Hurt by his parents' words to his grandson, man in Simalungun is determined to burn down his house

Jakarta – A man named Jumadi Sirait (33) was determined to burn down his parents’ house in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra). The incident arose because the perpetrator admitted that he was hurt by the victim’s words. Tanah Jawa Police Chief Asmon Bufitra said the incident happened at Huta VIII Bagot Puloan, Nagori Buntu Turunan, Hatonduhan District on Friday (17/10) at around 20:00 WIB. Currently, the perpetrator has been detained by police officers. “We managed to secure the perpetrator Jumadi Sirait within a short time and are currently undergoing intensive investigation,” Asmon said as reported by detikSumut, Sunday (19/10/2025). Beyond the victim’s parents’ house, the fire also spread and burned another resident’s house. Based on the perpetrator’s statement, Asmon said, the perpetrator’s motive was to burn down his parents’ home because he was hurt by what the victim said to the perpetrator’s children or grandchildren. However, Asmon did not explain what the victim said that hurt the perpetrator. “The perpetrator set the house on fire because he was hurt by what the perpetrator’s parents said to the perpetrator’s children or the victim’s grandchildren.
