Husband and wife killed in land dispute in Rourkela, Odisha, arrested accused

Rourkela, October 7 (IANS). A case of brutal murder of husband and wife came to light on Monday night in the Tirubeda town under the Bisra police station of Rourkela, Odisha. The incident spread sensation throughout the area. After receiving information about the murder, police administration reached the place and the deceased was identified as Anem Munda and his wife. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased couple had been killed by their younger brother Namden Munda. DSP Amarendra Sandh, while talking to Ians, said that a person named Jonal Munda had informed the double murder in the Bisra police station. Police immediately reached the place and recovered two bodies. Initial investigation found that the murder was committed over a family dispute. He said that the man and woman were sleeping at the time of the incident when the accused attacked with a sharp weapon and killed both. Police seized the sharp weapon used in the murder and the accused Namden Munda was arrested. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the case. DSP said people who live in the area are being questioned. It is determined how long the dispute is going on. The accused is also questioned. Soon the whole case will be revealed. At the same time, in Brahmapur of the Ganjam district of Odisha, senior lawyer and member of the Odisha State Bar Council, Pitabas Panda was shot dead by unknown crimes. Panda was also a prominent BJP leader and was known for his activism at the local level. This incident happened late Monday night in the Brahmanagar area when Panda returned to his home. According to the information, Panda came home in his car at about 11pm. During this, two suspects in the cycling suddenly approached him and shot him up close.
