Prior to the Bihar election, there was a political struggle over the special intensive review (SIR) of the voters list. The Electoral Commission proposed to remove the names of about 65 lakh voters from the voters list. According to the commission, it contains 22 lakh -dead voters, 36 lakh voters and 7 lakh voters for double registration. After this decision, the opposition raised serious questions about the Electoral Commission. Several opposition leaders, including leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, have accused Chief Electoral Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of voting. In the midst of this tension, people also remembered former chief election commissioner TN Seshan.
