Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister gives 'Diwali gifts' to underprivileged girls in Bhopal

Bhopal, October 21 (IANS). Chief Minister Mohan Yadav distributed gifts to girls from underprivileged families at a program organized on the occasion of Diwali in Bhopal on Tuesday and wished them the best of the festival. Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that girls are the pride of Madhya Pradesh and no stone will be left unturned to make their lives happy and prosperous. He reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought happiness in the lives of poor families by providing them housing. He said that the central and state governments are running many welfare schemes for the welfare of women and girls. The Chief Minister said Diwali brings smiles on everyone’s faces and his happiness doubled by celebrating this festival with his daughters. He also talked to the girls about their education and family life. Bhopal MP Alok Sharma along with other leaders also attended the program organized late night at a community hall in Idgah Hills. Earlier, the Chief Minister also participated in the Dhanvantari Puja program organized on the occasion of Dhanteras at Mansarovar Medical College in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. He said that Govardhan Puja symbolizes the spirit of ‘live and let live’ and sharing available food and resources with the community. Preserving our culture and traditions is a common responsibility of all of us. He said that animal husbandry plays an important role in doubling the income of farmers in the state. He informed that at present Madhya Pradesh contributes 9 percent to the total milk production of the country. The goal is to increase this to 20 percent. The state government is committed to make Madhya Pradesh a leading milk producing state. Many schemes are being implemented to promote animal husbandry and dairy production. The financial assistance given per cow to cow shelters has been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 40 per day. Urging the society to cooperate with the government in cow protection, Yadav said it would also strengthen the flow of Sanatan culture.
