Abu Dhabi, October 15 (IANS). Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third and final ODI against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Zadran was fined 15 percent of his match fee. Zadran was fined after being found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff. Section 2.2 deals with the misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, field equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match. The incident occurred during the 37th over of Afghanistan’s innings, when Ibrahim, while returning to the dressing room after being dismissed, hit equipment near the team area in frustration. Match officials deemed his behavior a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct, which seeks to uphold standards of respect and discipline on and off the field. The ICC explained that there is a range of penalties for Level 1 offences. The minimum official reprimand can range from a fine of up to 50 percent of a player’s match fee, with one or two penalty points added, depending on the severity of the offense. In Ibrahim’s case, one point was added to his disciplinary record. This is his first offense in 24 months, meaning he will face no further sanctions unless he commits any further offenses in the near future. According to the ICC, Ibrahim accepted his crime and also accepted the imposed fine. Ibrahim Zadran played a brilliant innings of 93 runs in the third ODI. He wasted the chance of a century by being run out. Afghanistan scored 293 runs and won the match by 200 runs after bowling out Bangladesh for 93 runs. Afghanistan won the three-match ODI series 3-0.
