"Don't talk anything about Kashmir," India reprimanded 57 countries that supported Pakistan,
The two -day meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) held in Istanbul once again became a platform of Pakistan’s partisan diplomacy. The Foreign Ministers of the 57 Muslim countries’ organization (CFM) spoke in its joint statement about the continuation of the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) between India and Pakistan, on the other hand, also made one -sided remarks about India’s military action and Kashmir policy. The OIC in his joint statement made it clear that it fully supports the attitude of Pakistan and that they expect maximum limitation of India. The OIC said that the Indo pack Indus Treaty should not be ‘broken’. In the formal statement issued to the meeting, the OIC clearly said that the Indus water treaty, which took place in 1960 between India and Pakistan, must be strictly followed by both sides. “This historical agreement must be broken under any circumstances. Both parties must continue its implementation,” the statement says. The remark comes at a time when India sharpened its position on the Indus treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and indicated to stop Pakistan’s water. Pakistan objected strongly against it and threatened war. The two countries have been face to face on this issue for three months. OC accused India of military growth, in a statement: “We are very concerned about the growing military activities in South Asia. The military attacks by India in many places in Pakistan can increase regional stability.” OC has urged both sides to avoid provocative actions and to exercise maximum restraint. This is clearly a sign for India, as Pakistan is a permanent member of OC and has long been used as a diplomatic weapon against India. A further concern for India at this OIC meeting in the tone of Pakistan at Kashmir, was that the organization also fully repeated Pakistan’s side on the Kashmir issue. The statement says: “We support the United Nations Security Council proposals, the position of the OIC and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, the rights of self -determination of the people of Kashmir.” This statement is against the policy of India that Kashmir sees as an integral part of India and rejects the mediation of a third party. Important meetings were held in Turkey. This meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization, which was also present, was also in the discussion, because the chief general of the Pakistan Army, Asem Munir, also reached Turkey, with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, of the Pakistan. Munir met the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan there, which is considered a strategic step on the sidelines of the official agenda of the meeting. It is believed that this meeting influenced the language of the last statement of the OIC, in which a difficult position was taken against India. This fresh tendency of OIC, the growing diplomatic challenge for India, is diplomatically restless for India. On the one hand, India presents itself as a world leader and development partner on international forums, on the other hand it stands against opposition due to Pakistan’s ongoing partisan lobby in organizations such as OIC. Old and stable agreements such as the Indus water treaty are now also brought to the center of geopolitical conflict, which threatens unrest and deepening in South Asia. Share this story -tags
