Just as heavy rain is still consuming parts of the Northern India, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings about changes in weather conditions for various regions across India. The weather division informed a red warning in Chamba, Kangra and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and several districts in Karnataka. Himachal Pradesh The weather section predicted heavy rain in Chamba, Kangra and Mandi over the next two days. It also issued a yellow warning for August 28 in Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. Shimla and Mandi are expected to see heavy rain on Friday, August 29. Mandi and Kullu saw a short time of heavy rain on Wednesday, August 27. In addition, an orange warning was issued for August 30-31 in Mandi, Shimla and Solan. Kullu, Mandi, Kangra and Shimla will also experience an orange warning on August 31. Karnataka -heavy rain beat Bengaluru and other areas of Karnataka on Wednesday, August 27, causing traffic congestion hops at major connections. Bengaluru recorded 4.3 mm of rainfall between 09:00 and 17:30, while coastal districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada received heavy showers, who asked the IMD to issue a ‘orange’ warning. Rainfall is also reported in Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Vijayapura, Tumakuru and Mysuru. Heavy rainfall is expected to cover several districts of Karnataka until Saturday, August 30, and an orange warning is in place for the coastal, Malnad, Northern Binnandal and South African regions until August 29. A ‘orange’ warning is issued when the daily rainfall varies between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm. Kolkata The IMD predicted heavy rain in northern West Bengals over the next two days. In the Western Bengal, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, it will probably receive heavy rain until Friday 29 August. Light to moderate showers is likely to occur in many places of gangetic West Bengals until August 30 – thunderstorms and lights are probably too. Kolkata is likely to receive light to moderate rain or thunderers. Itanagar, Arunachal Heavy rainfall is forecast in parts of Arunachal Pradesh in the next few days. Yellow warning was issued by IMD in East Kameng, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Changlang, Tirap and Longding Districts – with prediction of thunderstorms with heavy rain. Residents in these areas are advised to be vigilant for possible weakening, localized floods, landslides and traffic disruption. Rainfall is also predicted in Siang, East Siang, West Kameng and adjacent districts. Isolated rain is probably in Lohit, Namsai, Anjaw, Kurung Kumey and Tawang. In the Bulletin, it is noted that rainfall activity will remain active over Central and East Arunachal Pradesh over the next five days. The prediction indicates that rainfall can increase in different districts between 28 and 30 August, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in foothills and eastern belts. (With agency input)
