DKI Legislature asks sidewalks around schools to be improved disabilities

Jakarta – The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has acknowledged that the pavement facilities in Jakarta are still not quite friendly for people with disabilities. DKI DPRD Commission D coordinator Wibi Andrino agreed with Pramono’s statement. “We agreed that we were in the commission of the DKI DPRD that the Jakarta sipage was not fully friendly for people with disabilities. Many points are not equipped with leading blocks, ramps or standard savings,” Wibi told reporters on Saturday (5/24/2025). Wibi asked the DKI Jakarta provincial government to improve the sidewalk to be friendly with disabilities in school to the hospital. Wibi requested that this plan be not just discourse. Inclusivity is not only a discourse, but must be real in public space,” he said. Pramono previously acknowledged that the Stoep facilities in Jakarta were not quite friendly for people with disabilities. Pramono ordered a leading block on each sidewalk. “Jakarta, compared to other cities in Indonesia, is actually pretty good. But in my opinion it’s a lot of missing, it’s still missing,” Pramono said in the block M area, South Jakarta, on Friday (5/23). Pramono answered questions about the feasibility of public facilities for persons with disabilities. According to him, all infrastructure work, especially pedestrian development, should note the needs of persons with disabilities. He gave an example of the importance of the existence of the guide in the pedestrian that should not be ignored in the development. “So that we will definitely think of disability for this workmanship. Including there is a plate (leading block), including pedestrians. It shouldn’t be there. It must be there for disability,” he said.
