Greater Noida, October 9 (IANS). The Uttar Pradesh government has announced to organize ‘Swadeshi Melas’ in all 75 districts just before Diwali. This initiative is an important step towards empowering artisans, craftsmen and entrepreneurs. Its purpose is to promote the ‘voice for local’ call from Premier Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Rakesh Sachan, cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, said that these trading festivals will last about 9 to 10 days in each district, which will be arranged under the auspices of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS). These festivals will be arranged between October 9 to 19. Earlier, such festivals were limited to only 18 districts. The crafts and artisans will now expand to all 75 districts, and have a larger market and direct access to consumers. There will be the emphasis on displaying local products in this scholarship, which will not only increase the revenue of the artisans, but consumers will also get quality goods at affordable rates. In addition, buyers will also be made aware of the benefits of GST reforms. Minister Rakesh Sachan, who emphasizes the infrastructure development, informed that the construction of three unit centers in Lucknow, Varanasi and Agra began funding from the central government. Soil for these malls has been identified and the foundation stone has also been laid in some places. The future plan of the state government is to establish unity centers in all 75 districts. These shopping malls display the unique products (odd) of each district as well as ODOP products from other states, creating a larger market for indigenous goods. The minister also informed that the third edition of UP International Trade Show (UPITS) was successfully concluded. The fourth and next edition will be arranged on an even larger scale from 25 to 29 September 2026. He assured that the shortcomings observed this year would be corrected to make the next issue more impactful. –Is Bag/DKP Share This Story Tags
