Question for a separate trade union area for 'Cookie -Joe' community in Manipur, 10 MLAs submitted Memorandum to Premier Modi

IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 13 (IANS). In Manipur, the demand for a separate administration or trade union area for the Kuki has increased again. A total of 10 MAs, 7 of whom are from BJP, submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The memorandum was submitted to Churachandpur during the visit of the Premier Modi. The lawmakers in their memorandum called on the prime minister to start the issue as soon as possible and to give the Kuki community the status of a separate trade union area with a legislative system. The memorandum wrote: “You know well that our people were completely expelled from the Valley of Manipur. They were embarrassed, beaten, made victims of rape and spiritual harassment. It is an extraordinary ethnic atrocities, which also shows the collusion of the state. It is an attack on minorities by the majority community.” The lawmakers also said: “Now we can only live peacefully in the form of good neighbors, not under the same roof. This is the only way our people can give safety, justice and self -respect.” These 10 MAs include former Stam Affairs Minister Lepto Haocip and former Minister of Social Welfare Nemcha Kipjen. As ethnic violence began in Manipur in May 2023, the Kuki community and their representatives constantly claimed separate administration or trade union area.
