Indian team is the toughest to beat: Simeon Harmer
Mumbai, October 23 (IANS). Spinner Simeon Harmer, who played a key role in South Africa’s big win over Pakistan by taking 8 wickets in the Rawalpindi Test, said defeating the Indian team was the toughest task. Speaking to Telecom Asia Sport after South Africa’s win against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Harmer said: “It is difficult to play and beat India at the moment. They have a huge pool of stadiums with different conditions and players.” He said: “A win over Pakistan in spin-friendly conditions will help South Africa prepare for the upcoming tours of India and Sri Lanka next year. Before coming on this tour, we knew we had to learn quickly so that when we play India, we perform well from day one. India are a good team and their spinners are world class.” Harmer said it was good to return to India with a 1-1 draw in the two-Test series against Pakistan. Matches are won in the World Test Championship, so 50 per cent win percentage is an ideal start and it will give us a lot of confidence for the next series.” The 35-year-old Harmer said the strategy we followed against Pakistan will be the same against India. The experience here will be useful in India. I hope that I can make a place in the playing eleven. series against Pakistan and India. Senuran Muthusamy, Prenellan Subrayan and Simon Harmer. South Africa will tour India for a series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20 matches. Test series will be played first. The first Test match will be played in Kolkata from November 14. –IANS PAK Share this story Tags
