India’s best interests at the forefront, bilateral trade conversations ‘Moving in Right Direction’: Piyush Goyal on Trump rates | Mint

The best interests of India will be kept in mind while gaining trade agreements, secured trade union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday. “India First is our mantra, is our leading principle,” Goyal told reporters on the sidelines of an event here. Goyal refused to disclose the exact contours of continuing trade conversations with the US, saying India is in talks with many countries. “They continue to go very smoothly in a positive direction and that’s fine,” he added. “We cover a very wide variety of subjects, a very wide variety of products and I can ensure business people across the country ensure that we keep the best interests of India at the forefront of our discussions,” Goyal said. India’s discussions with the United States about a possible bilateral trade agreement are ‘in the right direction’, Goyal said. The bilateral trade agreement with the US will become a developed country by 2047 when the country celebrates 100 years of independence, he said. Goyal spoke here on the Dubai India Business Forum and said India is starting an Indian Institute for Management and Indian Institute or Foreign Trade in the UAE. The decision to open these two leading educational institutes after the establishment of IIT should be seen as an important event that illustrates India’s ties. He said India wants Dubai to serve as the gate for India’s involvement in the Middle East, adding that 20 Lakhindians live in the city. A number of announcements were made by Dubai-based entities during the event, including the onset of the construction of the Bharat Mart in Al Jabeli. The Mart will be completed at the end of next year, officials said. The Bharat-Africa Setu, which will help Indian exporters access to 53 cities on the African continent served by DP World, has also been launched. In addition, DP World has linked to state-owned rituals for the development of projects worldwide, and with Cochin-Shipyard for shipwreck, shipbuilding and shipwreck groups along the Indian coastline. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, was present at the event. Goyal, whose remarks about Indian Startups recently caused a debate, said he did an analysis showing that the entire ecosystem misunderstood his remarks. “It was a typical hatchwork through the congress part with their various handles, which completely distorted my remarks and my attempt to inspire our young businesses to look for great pursuit,” the minister said. Meanwhile, Goyal also told reporters that he saw a decline in Congress under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, a “non-serious politician”. Amendments to the WAQF Act will eventually do the Muslim community in general by ensuring an orderly management of WAQF for charity and religious purposes.
