In the first group, 32 participants took part and received training in subjects such as astronomy, telescope operations, hospitality services and community tourism. Participants from different parts of Uttarakhand participated in the training, in which women actively participated. Ramashish Ray, founder of Starscapes, said that this initiative will be a milestone in community tourism and dark sky conservation. Poonam Chand, Additional Director, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, said that the success of the Dehradun batch will lay a strong foundation for expanding the program across the state. In the coming time, this training will also be organized in other districts.
