New -delhi, October 6 (IANS). Vice President CP Radhakrishnan appreciated the historical performance of the Indian Para athletes in the ‘World Para Athletics Championships 2025’. India finished 10th with a total of 22 medals in this championship held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Congratulations to Team India for the historical achievement in the World Championships for Athletics 2025. Our Para athletes inspired the country with their passion, enthusiasm and determination with a record of 22 medals on domestic land.” He said: “This is a glorious achievement for the country. It lays a strong basis for the future development of para games in India. I hope this achievement will further strengthen our efforts to inclusion and excellence in sports.” In the World Para Athletics Championships 2025, India came to the top 10 with 6 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals. At the same time, Brazil has the medal table with 44 medals above. Brazilian athletes won 15 gold, 20 silver and 9 bronze medals. China finished second with a total of 52 medals (13 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze), while Iran won third position with 9 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals. It has so far been the largest Para match event in India, in which Indian athletes achieved seven Asian records with three championships. During this time, more than 30 players performed individual best. In the World Para Athletics Championships 2025, more than 1,000 athletes from 104 countries participated in 186 medal events. It had 101 men, 84 female and a mixed competition.
