Rajasthan Supreme Court Cancel 2021 Police Exam on Paper Leak; 'clap on the face of government', says the congress

In a major development, the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday canceled the recruitment process of 2021 sub -inspector (SI) after allegations of widespread paper leaks and collusion. The Supreme Court reserved the ruling in the case on August 14 after hearing arguments from all parties involved. The ruling caused sharp criticism of opposition leaders, who accused the BJP government by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for deceiving the youth and did not act on time. On August 13, 2024, several petitions demanding the cancellation of the SI recruitment were filed in the Rajasthan High Court. During the hearings, the state government made it clear that it was not intended to cancel the recruitment at that time, a position also supported by the selected candidates who opposed the move. The Congress MLA and leader of opposition in the Rajasthan meeting, Tika Ram Jully, knocked out at the BJP-led State Government, claiming that he did not fulfill the promises. “The government could not make a decision, made false promises to the youth, made great allegations against the congress, kept talking about catching big crocodiles, but nothing came of it. You should ask this government why it makes false promises to the youth? …” Jully said. Govind Singh Dotasara, president of the Rajasthan Congress, also criticized the state government and called the court’s decision “a slap on the face” of the administration. “It’s a blow to the state government. For more than two years, this government, which was divided, was unable to make any decisions … The chief minister of Rajasthan could not use his discretion, because when he made the main minister, the condition that he would not use his discretion and that he would only use Delhi …” Dotasara said. The recruitment process of the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment process was violated by allegations of paper leaks spread widely on social media and messages, which requested petitions and public protests.
