And Pancasila must be constantly turned on in the daily life of the community, especially in major cities such as multicultural Jakarta. “Pancasila is not just a historical document. Therefore, Pancasila education and the strengthening of the character of nationalism is important and must always be brought into schools, work environment, to the community community,” member of Commission C of DKI Jakarta DPRD explained. The chairman of the Indonesian LXII Lemhannas PPRA Ikal also emphasized that the commemoration of independence was a momentum to evaluate the extent to which the constitutional mandate was performed. “In Jakarta, there are still residents who are struggling to get the right to decent housing, quality education, health insurance to help for social security. Public policy must be in favor of the small people and protect their basic rights,” he said. As the capital of the country, he continued, Jakarta is called a symbol of Indonesian unity. “Jakarta citizens come from different backgrounds. It is very important to maintain the spirit of the Republic of Indonesia through an inclusive and dialogic approach. There should be no room for intolerance and identity -based violence,” he said. He considered it, diversity in Jakarta was a real portrait of unity in diversity. But differences should be well managed so as not to be a source of conflict. “The provincial government, the DPRD organization and all elements of society must be present to bridge differences. Cultural activities, cross -ethnic education and local community support can strengthen social harmony,” the head of the Jakarta PDI Perjuangan Disaster Management Agency (Baguna) explained. Furthermore, Kent argued that true independence can only be felt if all people can live properly and worthy. “We, PDI Perjuangan, will always be committed to overseeing the budget and public policy to always work with the small people, disabled, children and women, as well as other vulnerable groups. The spirit of independence must be realized through fair development and access to fair basic services,” he said. Kent also emphasized that although Indonesia was independent for 80 years, the journey of this nation was not completed. “Our task today is to keep the torch flame so that the struggle remains bright by strengthening the four national pillars. The 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia must be the initial momentum of efforts to make Jakarta a safe, fair and prosperous joint house for everyone,” he concluded. (MPR/EGA)
