Education is the top priority of our government: Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya

Shillong, June 18 (IANS). Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad KK Sangma said on Wednesday that the lifting of the education sector in the state was the top priority of his government. The administration has also invested around Rs 3,000 crore over the past few years for improving education, sports and entrepreneurship. The chief minister emphasized the importance of education, sports, music and entrepreneurship, citing the government’s commitment to the overall development of youth. He said: “Our focus was on overall education and over the years we secured renewal, revival and new building construction for all MP schools of government, secondary and higher secondary schools.” The chief minister said the state government is committed to ensuring general development in infrastructure for educational institutions and new colleges was launched by the government, including the inauguration of new colleges. He said: “Captain Williamson is a testament to our government’s commitment to give priority in Sangma State University, First State University, education sector.” He said that about 3,000 crore was invested by various programs in education, sports and entrepreneurship, the main minister underlined the importance of direction to the positive energy of youth. He said: “We are creating strong sports infrastructure across the state. We are preparing a plan to promote our players for preparing the national matches held in our state. Next week we call all sports associations preparing players who prepare players to discuss intervention for support and financing.” Sangma insisted that Meghalaya offered the national games because the IOA was aware of the preparations and capacity of our state.
