The Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, responded to reports indicating that he became the next national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the midst of delay in appointing a new BJP president to replace Union’s health minister, Chouhan’s name was often discussed as a potential candidate for the top party post. Chouhan’s reported meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), head of Mohan Bhagwatwatwat, added further fuel to the speculations last week. According to reports, the meeting lasted 45 minutes. On August 26, Tuesday, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh responded to questions that he had become the next BJP president. The minister argued that he was once focused on increasing the production of the farm and promoting the income of cultivars. Chouhan was asked by Media in Gwalior about his reported meeting with Mohan Bhagwat in New -Delhi this past weekend. However, Chouhan conveyed the questions and confirmed that he was dealing with his ministerial responsibilities. ‘Like Arjun and the Bird’s Eye’ ‘I want to say one thing – Premier Narendra Modi entrusted me to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Farming runs in every pore of my body, farmers are in every breath. Like Arjun and the bird eye, my only goal is to increase production, develop rural areas and increase farmers ‘income,’ he said. Chouhan, 66, a prominent OBC leader, was four times the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for a record and is seen as a politician with grassroots level. After leding the BJP to a stomping victory in the November 2023 election in Madhya Pradesh, he left the meeting and fought and won the 2024 Lok Sabha Pollents of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. He later joined the 3.0 cabinet of Narendra Modi. When reporters asked more questions about the issue of the next BJP president, Chouhan noted: ‘I’ve never thought about it, and nobody told me. The ministry of farmers is worship of God for me and wants to do this worship. ‘ Who will replace JP Nadda? The three-year term of current BJP president JP Nadda ended about two years ago. Thereafter, his tenure was extended. The election for the BJP national president was supposed to take place in January. Nadda, who has served as the national president of the BJP since January 2020, has extended its term beyond the three -year limit to ensure a smooth transition and proper preparation for the next leadership phase.
