A sad incident came to light of the Mehsana district of Gujarat, which embarrassed the entire country. A 28 -year -old married woman was forced by her to put her ‘loyalty’ and ‘purity’ in the Garita town of Vijapur Taluka and forced her to put hands in boiling oil. In this inhuman act, the woman’s hand and legs were burned badly. Police registered a case against the in -laws on the basis of the victim’s complaint and began the investigation. Torture continues, even after 13 years of marriage: The victim, who is the mother of two children, got married 13 years ago. She was upset about the tortures that gave her on the side of her over the past few months. On September 16, this torture reached its peak, when her sister -in -Law with her brothers hatched a cruel conspiracy. The woman told police that her sister -in -law constantly doubted her character and mocked her. She was fed up with the quarrels and abuse that was taking place, but the incident on September 16 crossed all limits. ‘Fire test’ of boiling oil: According to the fir, the sister -in -law and the brothers -in -law decided to test the woman’s ‘purity’. He heated the oil in a vessel and when he started cooking, he asked the victim to put his hand in it. When the victim refused to do so, she began to assault her. They forcefully pushed her to the stove and let her hand go into the boiling oil. The victim started screaming, but even after hearing her voice, the accused did not sweat. Wounds of severe fire on the body: Torture did not stop here. The victim told police that her sister also put hot oil on her right leg and threatened that if she kept making noise, she would be killed. Her father and nearby people heard the scream of the woman. He immediately saved the victim and acknowledged her in a private hospital. Doctors confirmed the wounds of serious burns to his hands and legs. This incident shows the superstition that prevails in society and the extent of violence against women. Police have registered a case, the investigation continues: The next day of this incident, the victim suffered courage and filed a complaint with the Vijapur police station. Police have registered a case under various divisions of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) against Nand and his brothers based on the victim’s statement and the hospital report. This includes sections 115 (serious injuries), 351 (attack) and 352 (criminal intimidation). Police also recorded statements from eyewitnesses on the spot and investigated the case intensively. Legal provisions and responsibility for society: This matter is not only a case of domestic violence, but also shows how superstition and patriarchal thinking is still in deep roots in our society. By doubting the character of the woman and giving her such barbaric ‘fire examination’, the medieval thinking reflects. This incident raises serious questions about the situation of women’s safety and respect in society. Police and law play their role, but society must also change. The law is not just enough to prevent such crimes, but social awareness and education are also needed. Police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon and that they will be severely punished. The courage of the victim is appreciated as her complaint has exposed this heinous crime. This incident is a warning to all women who are victims of domestic violence, and motivate them to raise their voice against it.
