Jaisalmer bus accident: 22 dead, 13 injured, Jodhpur Collector gave information, rest to be identified through DNA

Jodhpur, October 16 (IANS). The gruesome bus accident that took place on Tuesday afternoon near Thaiyat village on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district has shocked the entire state. Giving detailed information, Jodhpur Collector Gaurav Aggarwal said that the rest will be identified through DNA. Due to sudden fire in a private AC sleeper bus in Jodhpur, 22 out of 57 passengers died tragically while 13 people were seriously injured. Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Aggarwal said that a total of 19 bodies have reached us for identification in the accident. Of these, 18 bodies were identified, and 17 bodies were handed over to their families after the post-mortem examination was completed. The family members of the remaining body have also reached Jodhpur, which will be handed over soon. One body has yet to be identified. He appealed that if any family member traveled in the bus and has not been traced, they should contact the helpline numbers of the district administration. Identification will be done through DNA test, as was done in the Ahmedabad air crash. Aggarwal said that the administration is active round the clock and no missing person will be left untouched. About the condition of the injured, the collector said that 16 injured have reached Jodhpur. One of them died on the way, the other during treatment and the third in the morning. Now 13 injured are receiving excellent treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital (MGH). A special team of doctors is deployed, which includes experts from plastic surgery and burn units. The injured include Mahipal Singh (Ramdevra), Yunus (Bambaro ki Dhani), Omaram (lathi) etc. Most of the people suffered 70 percent burns, but their condition is stable.
