Jakarta narcotics prison fails Smuggling of Shabu wrapped in soy sauce chicken

Jakarta – Officers from the Jakarta Class IIA Narcotics Correctional Institution (Lapas) succeeded in stopping the smuggling of packages of goods suspected to be methamphetamine. The wish item was posted by a visitor in a soy sauce chicken dish. Head of the Jakarta Narcotics Prison, Syarpani, explained that the incident started when officers in the food search service area became suspicious of the soy sauce chicken food wrapper. The food was brought to one of the prisoners. “During further inspection, 10 small packets containing white powder suspected to be narcotics were found neatly hidden inside pieces of chicken,” he said in a statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday (23/10/2025). Syarpani stressed that his party will continue to tighten surveillance and will not tolerate all forms of violations that threaten safety and order in prisons. “This is a clear proof that we will not be indifferent. We will definitely act against every smuggling attempt, no matter how small. The Jakarta Narcotics Prison is committed to creating an environment free of drugs and prohibited items,” he said. He went on to explain that the result of the interim investigation showed that the visitor who brought the food was in contact with one of the prisoners who had previously communicated via a special kiosk. It is tentatively suspected that communication was the means of organizing the attempt to smuggle illegal goods. According to Syarpani, the evidence and the visitor in question have been handed over to the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Unit for further investigation and legal action. He said this failure was the fifth in 2025. With this success, the Jakarta Narcotics Prison reaffirmed its commitment to the total war on drugs. “As the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto and the Director General of Corrections Mashudi always remind us, zero drugs is a fixed price,” he said.
