Jake Lacy Joins Emmy Rossum In ‘Black Widow’ Series ‘Furious’ At Hulu

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy nominee Jake Lacy (The White Lotus, Apples Never Fall) is set for a recurring role in Furiousthe previously untitled Liz Meriwether Hulu series loosely inspired by the 1987 movie Black Widow.

The series is led by Emmy Rossum, who also executive produces, and stars the previously announced Lola Petticrew, Scoot McNairy and Quincy Tyler Bernstine.

Furious follows Alice (Rossum), an FBI agent who uses the secrets from a female serial killer’s past to try to find her.

Lacy will play Marshall, a charismatic and well-liked character who grew up with Alice, with whom he had a deep love and connection. Sober and motivated to get his life back on track, Marshall can’t quite let go of his past with Alice.

The Black Widow film was written by Ronald Bass and directed by Bob Rafelson. It follows two women: Catherine (Theresa Russell), who murders wealthy men whom she has married for their money, and Alexandra (Debra Winger), an agent with the Department of Justice who grows obsessed with capturing her.

Matt Olmstead will write and executive produce Furious alongside Meriwether, who will also serve as showrunner. Joining them on the exec producing side are Rossum and Sara Moskowitz through Rossum’s Composition 8 banner; as well as Bass, who wrote the 20th Century Fox-distributed 1987 feature; and Sam Hoffman. 20th Television, where Meriwether has been based for a decade, and Searchlight TV are producing.

Lacy will next be seen starring alongside Sarah Snook in Peacock’s All Her Faultpremiering November 6. He received his first Emmy nomination for portraying Shane Patton in the first season of HBO’s The White Lotus. He followed that with A Friend of the Family and recently appeared in Apples Never Fall, both series from Peacock. Additional TV credits include NBC’s The Office, Hulu’s High FidelityandFosse/Verdon and Mrs. America for FX.

On the film side, Lacy recently wrapped A Mosquito in the Ear, the feature debut of Nicola Rinciari. His big-screen credits also include Todd Haynes’ CarolAaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos and Paramount’s sci-fi thriller Significant Other.
